Something important to know about me...I'm a huge tattoo freak. For now I only have two small, "hidden in plain sight" tattoos, but I have about 4 others I can't wait to get. Because of this love, I truly believe that tattooing is an art more people should appreciate. I'm constantly coming across tattoos that inspire me, they are true pieces of personal expression.
Coming across the first in this trilogy of videos this afternoon I was instantly hooked. And searched for the next two videos of progress hoping they existed. For my luck and yours they do! Overall I hope you watch these and see the beautiful and different take on the artist time lapse video.

For the past month of so I've been working at Lucky Brand, at their second largest store (Located in the King of Prussia Mall). In all honesty I couldn't be happier there, the brand is amazing, the pieces are addictive. I'd be lying if I said I didn't spend a good part of each shift shopping. I finally bought my first pair of Lucky Jeans a few shift ago and wow am I officially addicted. I have never felt more beautiful or confident in a pair of jeans before, and the new super stretch denim is a miracle. My least favorite part of jeans, the fact that they stretch out after a few wears is no longer a problem. Seriously I just love my job and love this brand. And I thought I'd share not only my love in words but some of the actual pieces I'm lusting over. And I think you all should be too.

Welcome to my collage built around the idea of the city girl and the bold pattern. I definitely have to say that there is still a winter feel to the mood that has been created, most of the fabrics upon close inspection seem to be heavy. I don't have much to say about this collage other than its my favorite of all the ones I have hanging on my wall currently; (there are several, I'll upload them soon I promise!)
It overall seems to express an attitude that develops overtime when you live in a city, especially one like New York. I know that may not make sense completely but there is a way you begin to dress almost as if the city is an accessory to your outfits; and to me each of these girls, along with the overall feeling of the board depicts that feeling.

Talk about a truly stunning video. The way they dance through all the years of style, and not only show case a single style from each decade. But instead pick all the different major trends and represent them in an authentic way is fantastic. Honestly I can't think of anything to critique about the video, the dance through the decades is done with passion, and detail. The music fits the mood that has been set by the fast pace cuts back and forth to ensembles. Meanwhile their settings are fitting to the times and its hard to catch even the slightest miss step their energy keeps you focused on the actions and not bored, searching for their wrongs. I'm so happy to have stumbled across this truly inspired piece.

Pieces by Raul J. Garcia
Came across these paintings on artnews and couldn't help but be inspired by the shapes Raul has created. Personally the edges and lines created remind me of an overall zoomed in look at the Hounds-tooth print. Although I'm sure this is very much an its in the eye of the beholder type of thing.

Any whooo, have a wonderful Super Bowl Sunday!!

Its that time of year where festivals start to release their line ups, (and as we all are aware of as the consumer, try to bid us to go their festival over anyone others). Now the boy is incredibly into these events and I couldn't be more excited to hit them up for the first time this summer. Now to me a music festival, a true good classic festival makes you think of the 1970's. Therefore I couldn't help myself by creating the perfect (completely impractical) 1970's inspired outfit.

The definition of a typical outfit for me. Nothing works better in my eyes then some green pants, a denim top and some gold jewelry. (it doesn't have to be gold, that's just what works best for my skin tone) Oh and always when in doubt, a good scarf always makes an outfit! (Funny enough this was pretty much my outfit for my first day of work at Lucky.)

Gorilla Perfume - Solid Perfume Version
Northern Lights Soap
Solid Shampoo Bars

So I'm here to share my beauty obsession: Lush, which is an amazing all natural cosmetics/beauty supplies company. My personal belief is that everyone should pay good money for their cosmetics, there is nothing more important then your skin. It absorbs everything so why would you want to put chemicals and preservatives on it when you could instead for a decent price pay to apply all natural products on your precious body. I can honestly say that Lush hair products have saved my hair, a few months ago; despite all my efforts, my hair was constantly left looking greasy. Not a great look, especially considering the one thing I always loved about myself no matter what was my hair. Finally one day desperate to find ANYTHING that would work, I walked to my local lush and picked up a bottle of their 'I Love Juicy' shampoo, and my addiction was formed. From there I began to purchase their soaps (my skin has never smelt or felt softer), their face scrubs (wow does my face feel amazing!) and I am DYING to get my hands on a tube of their Karma Solid Perfume. I highly suggest checking their stuff out, I promise you will not regret a single penny spent there!

My apologies, I know last week I said was the official start of my weekly collages (mood boards); unfortunately I stumbled into some personal drama over the last week, and am just now really getting the ideas now for a great piece. I knew I could have put something together during the chaos but I was also aware it wouldn't be as close to my heart or as good as it could be. So bear with me an extra few days. And I promise you will see a new piece of work soon.

(I'm actually super pumped about his board, I just collected the majority of the images that will be used and they work beautifully!)

A few days ago the boy and I were chatting about different natural phanminons we had learned about and were completely facinated by. This was his favorite. I finally got around to watching the video just a little bit ago and I'm compltely blow away. The Salton Sea is truly one of the most breath taking places I've ever had the pleasure to learn about and is now officially on my list of places to see before I die.
And if you happen to be wondering why is gods name I'm posting this on my fashion blog? Well because I'm so inspired by it! OF COURSE! And anything inspiring and enlightening is worth sharing!!

So you guys may or may not know this about me, but my ultimate end goal is to own my own boutique. I'm honestly obsessed with the idea, I'm constantly collecting tid bits of information about owning such a store. I just love the retail space, the whole idea that walking into store creates this world this entire mood that makes or breaks the reason you want to shop there. Anyway this past week I read an amazing article, this year Target is pairing up with certain specialty boutiques from across the nation instead of designers! Each boutique is going to do just what the designers have done in the past, work with the popular main stream store to create a collection that reflects their store and the target costumer so that their boutiques mood/feeling/expression can be captured by a larger audiance. How amazing is that seriously? It just gets me so excited to have my own store and hopefully one day similar oppertunities. Also it excites me that target is going to help revive the love and the specialty that is the small boutique.

(speaking of boutiques, shout out to one of my favorites and my former place of work, Condor!)

Detail of H&M black satin blouse
Detail of H&M black satin blouse
Scarf gifted to me from a friend after his trip to France!

So today is the start of something I'm going to be doing weekly, at least for now hopefully even more often as time moves on. As you know from reading my blog I make lots of mood boards in my free time. And I tend to post them on here. Well now they will be posted weekly, but they aren't going to be just done in photoshop, I've started doing some more by hand lately (not saying that there won't be ones done digitally too..) I just have well over a thousand magazine images I've collected over the years. Along with these mood boards I'm going to post a few select pieces from my wardrobe that match the mood of the board. I hope you enjoy!

This weeks, the first, is an all black and white board. Sifting through my images I found an overwhelming amount of black and white. So I thought who doesn't love the beauty that is the black and white image? And vola! a board was born!

I realize the other day I made a post and mentioned my internship at Condor, but never have I actually spoke to you all about my experience there. So here goes some kind of summery to the best of my ability, of my wonderful time at Condor.
I found out about the internship because one of the employee's at condor took my trend spotting class during the spring semester and had a good relationship with our professor. So when Condor was in need of interns our professor was quick to let us know and I was just as quick to respond to their request. And after an interview with the lovely Kylie and a day to make sure I fit well at the store my internship had begun. Over all I spent almost the entirety of my semester helping out at Condor and I'm so thankful I did so.
Working with a new company like Condor was an experience I will always cherish, because it is such a small store, I got to get my hands dirty in just about ever aspect of running a boutique. I worked with the inventory, worked to create a more organized system in our back stock, ran basic errands, helped customers and even got to learn how to merchandise a store. Merchandising the store I will openly admit was my favorite aspect, especially since I got to really understand just how important the layout of your product in a space can be, as well as how often you should change things up to make it feel fresh in the space.
Overall I'm very thankful to my friends over at Condor for their time spent teaching me.

I had the wonderful opportunity to visit a graphic design company, based in my home town, last night. It was so inspiring to see the tools I learned to love in school being used in real life. To see everything I've really only ever talked about being put to use, I honestly couldn't stop running around the building taking pictures like a geek. I needed it last night, I was in need of that. For reason I can't really explain. Well maybe I can, I'm slowly getting some freelance work, and I'm blogging all the time, but currently I feel stuck, so seeing the world of art I love in a real world setting. I'm over sharing a little bit, but I do it in hopes that it will bring my readers closer to me. I hope you have all had a good monday!

Worn to an interview, to ice skating and while baking. What up winter.

Thursday, January 5, 2012

Just a quick apologies to anyone who has visited the site in the past day or so and seen the on going changes.  I hope it hasn't caused to much of a mess for you guys! Everything is sorting its self out now!
During my wonderful internship over at Condor, I had the chance to meet a designer that you should get to know and love because she's blowing up quickly. Her name is Ambika , some of you may be familiar with her bikini line she has, which has even been featured on the cover of sport illustrated. Her new line is friendly furs, which just like her bikini's are crocheted, and all the materials are from English angora bunnies. Condor actually happens to be home to one of said bunnies. I feel so honored to have met Ambika on more than one occasion she is such a wonderful free spirit and soul, and I'm so excited for all her success. She was even invited to show at a trade show; Capsule in the upcoming year. All of the above images are from her friends furs line, and the last image is actually my personal piece from the collection, a gift from Condor's owner at the end of my internship. And its one of my favorite pieces in my winter wardrobe.
