Give me Some Chunky Heels

Maybe its because I personally am never comfortable in a stiletto, or it really just is that I visually find chunky heels more appealing..but it seems that this season has brought about some of the most beautiful heels I've seen.  So I scoured the web for days and came up with these 6 as my ultimate must haves right now.  Any arguments? Didn't think so.

So here it is, my not so dirty, not so secret, dirty little secret; I am positively obsessed with Burberry. Every single line, every single piece, is completely flawless in my mind. I've had this obsession since I was in the 7th grade (so I was roughly 12 years old), I can walk you through every single reason why I find Christopher Bailey (the creative director for Burberry for about just as long as I've been obsessed) to be one of the greatest creative directors currently working in the fashion business. But I won't do that, because that list is a mile and a half long. However I will present you with my collage dedicated to this obsession!!

Enjoy my crazy as much as I do.

Girls are supposed to like the color pink. It is that exact statement that has made me despise the color pink for most of my life. But this summer is going to be very different. Not only have I decided I kinda really like the color, but it dawns on me that that I'm a red headed, pale skinned girl with pink undertones. So essentially: pink looks good on me. Its opened up a whole world of options for me. To think I just refused to wear a silly color for no real good reason. Never again!

Is there a color your holding a grudge against that maybe you should give a second try?

A few warms days are in our past and a few more are in the future! I'm usually a cold weather girl, but since this winter has been such a let down for us, I'm ready for the warm air. My mind must have been drifting that way as I poured over polyvore earlier.
It also doesn't hurt that we just got in our Summer I set at work!

For the past month of so I've been working at Lucky Brand, at their second largest store (Located in the King of Prussia Mall). In all honesty I couldn't be happier there, the brand is amazing, the pieces are addictive. I'd be lying if I said I didn't spend a good part of each shift shopping. I finally bought my first pair of Lucky Jeans a few shift ago and wow am I officially addicted. I have never felt more beautiful or confident in a pair of jeans before, and the new super stretch denim is a miracle. My least favorite part of jeans, the fact that they stretch out after a few wears is no longer a problem. Seriously I just love my job and love this brand. And I thought I'd share not only my love in words but some of the actual pieces I'm lusting over. And I think you all should be too.

Its that time of year where festivals start to release their line ups, (and as we all are aware of as the consumer, try to bid us to go their festival over anyone others). Now the boy is incredibly into these events and I couldn't be more excited to hit them up for the first time this summer. Now to me a music festival, a true good classic festival makes you think of the 1970's. Therefore I couldn't help myself by creating the perfect (completely impractical) 1970's inspired outfit.

So today is the start of something I'm going to be doing weekly, at least for now hopefully even more often as time moves on. As you know from reading my blog I make lots of mood boards in my free time. And I tend to post them on here. Well now they will be posted weekly, but they aren't going to be just done in photoshop, I've started doing some more by hand lately (not saying that there won't be ones done digitally too..) I just have well over a thousand magazine images I've collected over the years. Along with these mood boards I'm going to post a few select pieces from my wardrobe that match the mood of the board. I hope you enjoy!

This weeks, the first, is an all black and white board. Sifting through my images I found an overwhelming amount of black and white. So I thought who doesn't love the beauty that is the black and white image? And vola! a board was born!

I spent yesterday with the boy being a snow bunny. Learning to snow board that is, and well basically failing in every way you can imagine. But no worries I will ride again. I don't give up easily, if I want to learn it I will! So do to such a day spend in the wonderful snow, I'm posting the other mood board I spoke about making in my last post. When I sifted through all my recently saved photographs there were two very clear feelings I was being drawn too. The first, a more psychedelic and graphic feel seen in the last posts mood board, and then this feel.  Nostalgic feeling correct? You just want to out on a chic light weight long cream or white colored dress that is full of movement, a few hesitantly bright accessories and be transferred back in time. Or at least to a dinner party with close friends. So cheers to a new year and some new fashion!

I was craving some inspiration so I sifted through all my most recent liked posts on tumblr and my most recently saved posts to my desktop. (wow I'm a crazy freak, I spend so much time on the computer saving images) If I had been near a scanner this would have been out of control, since my collection of magazine cut outs has grown so much in the past few weeks. But alas that was not the case. So here is one of the two mood boards I ended up pulling together. (I"ll post the other one soon) I ended up finding images of these naturalistic yet psychedelic colors and prints.  So beautiful and captivating right?? Alright well I'm going to get back to drawing up some logos for the sight!

I hope you all had a happy and safe new year!!

Its almost a new year. And as i was looking back through all the posts I have drafted but haven't posted I came across this gem. Which just happens to feel nostalgic to me, the colors, it just makes me feel like I'm wishing for something I can't get back. Which is perfect because on new years eve don't we all feel that way? Your excited for whats coming next but you always look back at the last year and wish for some of those great moments back. Its an entire day devoted to looking a head and back, but never really looking to much at the present. So I propose that tonight while you are all dressed in your glitter or sequins that you live for the night and don't worry about what 2011 was or wasn't, and who cares what 2012 might be. Tonight its just a night to spend with friends and enjoy that time. Because we all need nights like tonight. So take the chance and run with it.

After visiting the current exhibit at the Gladestone Galleries (west 21st street between 10th and 11th ave), I started reading through many of my favorite fashion blogs, and started to see these big overally exuberant jewels being used in fashion. It was a small detail i would have over looked if it hadn't been for the visit to the exhibition earlier that day.

So I'm so sorry  I haven't been keeping up with regular blogging on here. Its been crazy, I'm caught up in finals. And if i have posted on here i haven't even written anything its just been a random picture or two. But after this week things are going to get serious on this blog. I promise.
Anyway above is the start to one of my finals. The rest of which i will post later on, the assignment is to look at the art world and create a fashion forecast for spring/summer 2013. So above I have shown the images i used for color inspiration for the color story of the forecast.

mood board created by raechel pitsikoulis
I'm in love with mood boards, if I could have it my way that would be my job. Creating mood boards all the time. Its just something I love to do. This board above though, is not mine, but my lovely friend (and future roommate, and future business partner) Rae's board. We have similar aesthetics when it comes to fashion, and so to see the similarities between our mood boards over the seasons is very interesting for me. Its a little secret fetish? I have.

In my visual communications class, the digital portion we are working on putting together color pallets. Currently I'm drawn to shades of neutrals with a few pops of color here and there. It was more fun to create than I expected, I pulled pictures with colors I found intriguing and worked from there creating a pallet. Whats more wonderful than ever is how beautifully the colors worked together. Since creating this one I've made two others, and I'm going to continue to do so, I'm realizing just how much I love making color stories and now I know how to make them into workable color pallets, with pantone numbers and all.
