Exploding Flowers

While aimlessly stumbling across the internet last night I came across the Exploded Flowers Project a super beautiful and simple set of photographs. I'm just totally head over heals for the concept, and actually want to use these as a spring board for digital prints. Just imagine how beautiful these would be if done well on a dress, especially the hydrangea. I just can't help it; I have a weak spot for digital flower prints and these images are like candy to me. I can't stop, I just want more.

We Gathered in the Woods for a Wedding pt. 1

I had the lovely experience of spending a this past weekend away with family. And what a weekend! I was so inspired by the world my aunt and uncle have created for themselves over the years. each time I pay a visit to their small town in southern Virginia my senses come alive again. Things are just so simple there, everything is fresh and vibrant. Nothing is geometric, everything is built with the land. Its a different world than I'm accustomed too but its also always a welcomed break from reality.

The event we all gathered for was a wedding; my cousin's to be exact. A simple affair, outside, despite the rain!,  full of everything and anything that was found locally and in nature. A true handmade, bohemian wedding at its best. Not to mention there was nothing better than seeing my cousin so happy and full of love!!

Give me Some Chunky Heels

Maybe its because I personally am never comfortable in a stiletto, or it really just is that I visually find chunky heels more appealing..but it seems that this season has brought about some of the most beautiful heels I've seen.  So I scoured the web for days and came up with these 6 as my ultimate must haves right now.  Any arguments? So here it is, my not so dirty, not so secret, dirty little secret; I am positively obsessed with Burberry. Every single line, every single piece, is completely flawless in my mind. I've had this obsession since I was in the 7th grade (so I was roughly 12 years old), I can walk you through every single reason why I find Christopher Bailey (the creative director for Burberry for about just as long as I've been obsessed) to be one of the greatest creative directors currently working in the fashion business. But I won't do that, because that list is a mile and a half long. However I will present you with my collage dedicated to this obsession!!

Girls are supposed to like the color pink. It is that exact statement that has made me despise the color pink for most of my life. But this summer is going to be very different. Not only have I decided I kinda really like the color, but it dawns on me that that I'm a red headed, pale skinned girl with pink undertones. So essentially: pink looks good on me. Its opened up a whole world of options for me. To think I just refused to wear a silly color for no real good reason. Never again!

Is there a color your holding a grudge against that maybe you should give a second try?

What I've Been Googleing This Week:

Its been warming up around here, which has made me realize I have the smallest spring/summer wardrobe you can imagine. There just hasn't been a good amount of time spent investing in warm weather pieces in a few years, and wow do I need an update. I'm jonesing for skirts this year. Fun flouncy skirts. In bright exciting colors and prints. (In case you couldn't tell by the pictures above)
I'm actually planing on make a bunch this summer, (photos to come as I make them!) it seems I forgot the simple joy of sewing. I had become obsessed with the idea that if I sew something I should make the pattern too, which took away the joy. Now that I remember what fun it is to have a pattern and just make the piece, I'll never forget again!

 I'm going to my cousins wedding in a little over a month. The search for the perfect dress for the day is over. But now I'm stuck on the shoe search, because this dress calls for a beautiful pair of wedges. This search has lead me to find over 20 different pairs of espadrilles I'm in desperate "need" of. I've narrowed down these 20 to a select few I thought I'd share with you all. I'm considering them the best of this summers espadrilles!!
